The University of Kurdistan Hewler integrates academic, social and community spheres of the students' lives in a vibrant youthful atmosphere. There are continuous activities and prorammes for students to be involved in besides from the annual celebrations on the university's calendar-- most of which are organized and run by the students themselves.
Student life at UKH is one of the most lively and energetic in the region. The auditorium is home to many of the students' memories, and has become an academic and social venue. Students have excitably debated issues among themselves, but also cross-country debates with students from other colleges in the United States via conference calls.
Students are encouraged to take part in student run clubs and societies. The university promotes involvement in sports and recreation activities, with regular student-staff matches; it also has a women's basketball team.
Currently the university has established varies different clubs, and teams including chess, ping pong, debating, and a music band. Any student is free to take part in these societies or form new ones.
The continuous extra-curricular activities add enjoyment to the UKH experience to allow students to encounter new understandings and familiarities in a friendly and an academic surrounding.
UKH is proud to have students that hold an active role in their communities; its students regularly visit orphanages, retirement homes and other centers where their volunteer work and presence influences the lives of other people in their community. UKH students have had a role in assisting special case patients and children through different fundraisers.
The campus attempts to provide all the necessary facilities and opportunities for students to use their imagination, and implement their ideas as they excel in their studies.
UKH regularly hosts guest speakers and well-known personalities for discussions, giving students the opportunity to meet personalities of different professions to broaden the student's horizon of different matters that concern their society. The university places great importance on student's involvement not only in the university but also in their local community.
