The goal of collection development is to provide the best possible materials to support the academic curriculum, and attract international scholars to UKH either for teaching or research. Therefore UKH Library will develop not only the usual teaching collection but also special collections that could only be found here in the Federal Region of Kurdistan - Iraq.
Faculty, teachers, instructors and students are participating in the library collection development process, in addition, recommendations from visitors and other staff, are always welcome.
The library welcomes recommendations from students, staff, and visitors for library items. Please be advised the items that you recommend are just recommendations. The library will not guarantee and does not have any obligation to purchase the materials you are recommending, but it will evaluate each one according to library needs in light of the Library Collection Policy. Please supply as many as possible of the following details when making your recommendations:
It is the goal of the library to catalogue new materials, hard or soft copies, as soon as possible and so make them available to the UKH communities. Considering what is used throughout the Kurdistan Federal Region and Iraqi academic libraries, and the size of UKH Library, it has been decided to use the Dewey Decimal Classiciation System of classification in conjunction with the Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules and MARC standards of cataloguing for the presentation of this information.
Request for reconsideration of materials
Library users may request for reconsideration of any material if they deem it not appropriate. However all requests must be in writing and well justified. The library management will evaluate each request based on its merit and the library policies.
