Graduation Ceremony 2010

UKH celebrated its first graduation ceremony in July 2010.  The highlight of this event was the graduation of the first postgraduate group of students.  A total of 50 students received postgraduate degrees in the field of Business & Management Sciences, Sociology, Petroleum Technology and Politics and International Relation.  Most of the research carried out by postgraduate students received appreciation for high standard research by external examiners and several were recommended for publishing in international journals.

DelPHE Grants

UKH is a partner in several successful DelPHE-Iraq Grants, awarded by the British Council. One of these grants, with the University of Brighton in the UK, is entitled Connections for Sustainable Change: University of Brighton and UKH Partnership in Learning and Professional Development.

During October, the first part of the work related to this grant was conducted at UKH when the University was visited by Professor Gina Wisker and Dr John Hilsdon. Professor Wisker is the Head of the Centre for Learning and Teaching at the University of Brighton and Dr Hilsdon is Head of Learning Development at the University of Plymouth. In the research area, they conducted staff development sessions on planning research, including a special session of the British Academy Women Research Meeting.

A large number of UKH staff attended sessions at the Ministry for Higher Education in October, 2010. These sessions were part of a Ministry of Higher Education/University of Nottingham DelPHE-Iraq Grant from the British Council. UKH staff participated in sessions on research supervision, as well as other sessions on topics in university teaching and learning.
