The School of Access Studies at the University of Kurdistan – Hawler is pleased to announce that we will be accepting applications 1 – 11 February 2010 for new and transfer students.

The School of Access is a two-year programme that prepares students for studies in the University of Kurdistan – Hawler or for work in the business sector. (See www.ukh.ac for information on the University and the School of Access.)

Successful applicants will undergo a full year of studies from February to October and be ready to begin the second year in October 2010. Please note the following conditions:
1. The Applicant must be a graduate of high school (2005 or later and scientific or literary sections only) with an overall average in the final Ministry of Education Exams of 75% or above.
2. The student must have a minimum of 80% in English Language.
3. The closing date for applications is 11 February 2010. The applicant must deliver a completed application to the University of Kurdistan – Hawler in person. (See www.ukh.ac/admission for forms and details.)
4. The applicant must present an original ID and complete a short writing assignment at the time the application is submitted.
Applications not fulfilling the above conditions will not be considered.

Additional information:
1. Students dismissed from or who have left the University of Kurdistan – Hawler in past years may not reapply.
2. The University of Kurdistan – Hawler is a public University, where the language of study is English, and the study is free of charge.
3. Qualifying applicants will be invited to sit the entrance exam, to be held on 14 February 2010 at the University.
4. Of those who sit the entrance exam, no more than 50 will be called to interview the third week of February.
5. A total of 18 students will be accepted in this special intake of students.
6. Applicants accepted to study at the University of Kurdistan – Hawler must sign a written agreement to continue their study until they have completed their Bachelor’s Degree. Degree schemes are likely to be in the following areas: Business and Management Sciences; Political Sciences; Economics; Social Sciences; Applied Computing and Information Technology.
7. Students are required to meet the academic standards set by the Access Programme in order to progress to the Undergraduate Programme.
8. Students who voluntarily withdraw from the University will be required to pay back a proportion of the cost of their education. This proportion cost is currently $1000 per year.
9. Students are required to abide by the University of Kurdistan – Hawler rules and regulations.
